There are 65 lighthouses all along Maine’s coast, inlets, and islands. Originally, lighthouses were erected to signal the mouth of a harbor, a beacon for storm-tossed sailors. Today these lighthouses have become icons of coastal Maine.When in Maine, you can't go far without seeing a lighthouse, or light stations.
